The Townsend-Rogers Family website
This website is the newest addition to the Townsend-Rogers Family reunion. Through the efforts of Charles Jr., Gena Townsend and Isom Wilson, Jr., the website finally has come to being. We would appreciate any and all input from the family on making this website bigger and better.
The Family Tree
The family tree was introduced at the 2011 family reunion in Birmingham, AL and was a huge hit among the family. It gave everyone a graphical illustration on how they were related with other family members and where they were located in the evolution of the Townsend-Rogers family. Family members spent hours looking over the family tree and making additions and corrections to the information contained within.
The family tree was a culmination of work that was started by William C. Horton (aka Willie C.) in the 1980’s, continued research by Marva Daniels in the mid 90's and continued research and construction of the family tree by Gena Townsend. At the 2012 reunion, with the additional information that was added in 2011, the family tree spanned an entire wall in the hospitality suite.
We're very appreciative to Gena Townsend for her countless hours of research and hard work in constructing the family tree. It has been very informative to everyone.
The family tree took a digital form in 2016 when Bennie Harold Horton created the family tree at MyHeritage.com from Gena Townsend's paper model. The Townsend & Rogers family tree on MyHeritage.com can be accessed at www.myheritage.com/site-family-tree-212754911/townsend-rogers-family-tree?familyTreeID=1 . The digital format allows the family tree to be easily searched and updated. In order to update the family tree, you have to get permission from Bennie Harold. You can email him at benben127@sbcglobal.net and request permission to update the family tree. We're very appreciative to Gena Townsend for her countless hours of research and hard work in constructing the family tree and Bennie Harold for his hard work in creating the digital website. It has been very informative to everyone. Now family members, let us all bring it up to date!
